Have you looked in the mirror recently and seen yourself? Don’t like how you look? Too much body fat? Having too much fat on your body may not be appealing to you but it is also not healthy. But losing weight is hard, especially if you have been on diets that just don’t work. The question you need to ask yourself first is how much fat do you have on your body? Is it really in proportion to your size? Or do you really see the fat? Instead of guessing constantly about it, you need to actually measure your body to see exactly how much fat you have. The best way to do this is with a fat monitor or caliper. Before considering body fat monitors and calipers, let’s look at some things you need to know about them so you make the right choice:
· Calipers: These measure your body fat by pinching a fold of skin on your body. They are inexpensive if you can’t afford to pay for a monitor.
· Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA): This device works by recording how fast an electrical signal goes through the body. If you have a lot of fat, the signal is slower. There are two types available: scales and hand-held.
