Good health is the foundation of good living and exercise plays a significant role in obtaining good health. People who work out have added energy and are more likely to maintain their goal weight. Exercise regulates your blood pressure and helps to relieve stress.

Today there are more consumers purchasing aerobic equipment to have in their homes rather than only exercising in a gym. A recent survey found that two-thirds of health club patrons also use aerobic equipment at home. The most used home equipment was free weights followed by exercise bikes.

Often, the biggest challenge is figuring out which aerobic equipment is right for you. Too many people buy equipment, get it home, and never use it. When selecting a piece of equipment, consider the following:

• What is my goal? Are you trying to lose weight or get stronger? Determining your goal sets you up for success and narrows your search in equipment to the right pieces.
• How much space do I have to set up and store the equipment? Many people are excited to get their equipment home only to find it doesn’t fit in their home. Measure your space and the equipment before buying. Also, consider the electrical outlets and storage.
• How much can I afford to spend? Set a realistic budget and stick to it. If you love working out on a nice programmable piece of equipment at the gym and buy a basic model with no bells and whistles, you may be disappointed. It is advisable to spend most of your budget on one good aerobic exercise piece and then build around it with less expensive strength training pieces.
• Does the equipment come with a warranty? Ask about warranties, satisfaction guarantees, return policies and the general cost of repair when making a purchase.
