Performance management is the process by which a company, organization, department, or those in charge of specific processes, services, or employees, can check on their performance. Using certain systems, people will make sure goals are being met in an effective and efficient way and that processes are being carried out as planned.

For example, when analyzing the performance of employees, a company might help the employee set work expectations and goals; monitor performance; offer training and other tools for the employee to succeed; and recognize goals met and high-quality performance. It?s all about setting goals, then monitoring performance to make sure those goals are being met, whether on an individual or organizational level.

The goal of performance management is not simply do an employee review or to touch base on a project for the sake of doing it. It?s all about making sure that your employees, projects, processes, services, departments, and so on, are actually producing results. Employees can be busy all day?but still not get anything done. Departments can seemingly function well, but are they really getting the job done in an effective and efficient manner? Are your special teams really producing the products they?re paid to produce?in the quantity and quality that makes your business worthwhile? That?s what Performance Management is all about. Finding the answers to these questions?and helping you build a plan to improve.
