Executive Coaching is the process of one individual coming along side another person or group to assist in growth or improvement. That improvement can be personal or professional or some combination of both; it also can be hard side or soft side or both. Executive Coaching works for a variety of topics, whether its skills, attitudes, or character you want to improve.

Don’t confuse Executive Coaching with counseling or advising; and it’s more than simply being a cheerleader support structure. It is the art and discipline of tackling a pre- identified area of interest with clear expectations of progress. The right Executive Coach uses his or her experience and wisdom combined with personal perspective and expertise to show another the ropes on a specific topic.

Although the distinction may be hairline, there is a difference in many things that are similar to coaching. Here are a few definitions:

Coaching: An advising relationship in which an expert walks alongside another individual through a process or set of decisions to accomplish specific outcomes.

Discipling: A mentoring relationship with specific focus on spiritual outcomes.

Internship: The contemporary version of an apprenticeship, in which an understudy is immersed in a real work environment to learn a service or skill.

Mentoring: A mutual relationship with an intentional agenda to convey specific content along with life wisdom from one individual to another.

Tutoring: Private instruction customized around individual needs.

Getting help, growing, and maturing is all part of life. And more often than not a coach can help, whether we’re talking sports, cooking, singing, acting, or business, or even when looking for a new career or life balance.
