Help you out of a jam

Everybody gets worn down and possibly stuck on some part of life’s journey. A coach can come alongside and help you regain the traction you once had by showing you techniques, skills, mindsets, and data that will help you on your way.

Provide breakthrough ideas

We all have a limited set of experiences and background. None of us have read everything or experienced everything life has to offer. Many of the biggest life and work ideas have come from someone learning in one area, and then transferring that knowledge to another area. By working with someone who has the breakthrough ideas you need, you can get even farther on your path.

Insert perspective and fresh thinking

One of the greatest values a coach brings is a fresh angle or vantage point. That’s what referees are about: having people check out the same event from different vantage points. All together, the sum of their sightings makes up the whole of an event. When one person has a blind spot, another person with a different angle can see clearly. The same idea holds true in all aspects of life. You might not be able to see clearly from your first-person viewpoint; ask someone else to give you a better idea of what’s happening.

Bring courage and support

There comes a time when we reach down inside ourselves for faith, strength, and courage—and we come up short, or sometimes even empty. A good coach can bring energy and courage to help nudge someone in the right direction.

Provide reasonable and workable accountability

Mentoring is one thing. Monitoring is another. What we inspect is what turns out to be greatness. Accountability is asking the hard questions in such a way that doesn’t cause someone to lose heart for the journey. Good accountability is not easily accomplished and many times it distinguishes whether a person is simply getting therapy or coaching.

Improve our decision-making

We are faced with dozens, even hundreds, of decisions a day. One man said we make our decisions, then our decisions turn around and make us. How true. A good coaching engagement ought to always upgrade the decision path of those being coached.
