What is Business Coaching?

Think back to high school sports for a moment. Every sports team has a coach. These coaches are known to be your best friend and your worst enemy, all at the same time. You hate them because they push you, work you hard, expect a lot out of you, and generally make you uncomfortable. But then again, wasn’t it your coach who pushed you to succeed? Your coach who worked you hard enough to get you in shape and led you to win?

A business coach can be the same encouragement that a sports coach is, yet is considered more of a partner in a business situation. The coach helps you set and meet goals, work through difficult situations, reach your potential, make better business decisions, become a leader, and grow professionally.

The difference between a consultant and a coach is that a coach takes your personal needs and goals and your values into consideration, and helps you find ways to meld your life into your business. Business coaching helps you get where you want to be in life, giving you the tools to succeed. That differs a bit from other consultants, who usually focus on one specific area each, such as your lawyer, accountant, banker, and so on.
