Works created on or after January 1, 1978, are protected from the time of creation until 70 years after the creator’s death. If more than one person created the work, the copyright lasts until 70 years after the last surviving creator’s death. And if the work was made for hire or is anonymous or pseudonymous, the copyright lasts 95 years from publication, or 120 years from creation, whichever is shorter, according to the Copyright Office.
