To run a successful business one needs to have various attributes and ways of doing things, especially when running a large global business. It’s not like running a
small business where all you have is local stuff to deal with. Instead a big/global business has many divisions and departments. This carries with it much weight. However, just because the business is huge doesn’t mean the person running it can’t be successful. What this person would need is to develop and use certain qualities that go ahead and beyond what normal businessmen or leaders of
small businesses have or can do. It takes a special commitment and sacrifices for this person to achieve greatness and be a success in running his global business. This article will present the attributes and ways a person needs to be successful in running a global business. Actually, these principals can apply to running any business, but we’ll focus on the large one for now. Here are some attributes that are needed:
- Having PMA (Positive Mental Attitude): Have youever found yourself in a situation where you had to deal with a serious problem? Did you know that with each problem you face and conquer, you become a more successful person? That’s right. Having a positive mental attitude makes all the different in the world when you have to face making a decision that will impact the whole organization. This positive mental attitude can be achieved through change. This means changing the way you look at your environment and how you react to it. If you can direct your thoughts and control your emotions, you have taken a major step in developing a PMA.
- Learn to see: Sometimes we loose sight of what’s in front of us because of blind hatred, prejudice, or other factors. What we perceive is not always what’s there. What happens to us seems simple but in reality is a complicated process. The eyes see the image and send the impulses to the brain. The brain then interprets these impulses and sends them to memory. At this time the image has been interpreted and processed so we know what we saw. However, in many occasions we seem to filter what we see so we don’t see everything we should.
- Prioritizing: It’s no secret that if you don’t get your work organized you can’t accomplish anything. In a way this is true. Because you will not be able to complete any task you set out to do. That’s why prioritizing is so important. By using this system you learn to schedule activities at the right time and not miss a beat, especially if something comes up to disrupt your normal workflows. Learning to prioritize things and make decisions in the proper order will help you become more successful in business.
- Motivation: I think the key to being successful is by being able to motivate yourself. By being able to motivate yourself, you can induce yourself to take the necessary actions required to produce affective results. It will help you be successful in making the correct decisions that will benefit the company as a whole. Plus, being motivated instills others to be motivated. It’s like a cold. When one catches it, others catch it.
- Attract Wealth: What you think or say reflects what happens to you. If you think riches and wealth, it will come to you. If you think this way in business you will be successful. You have to make this a consistent effort each and every day for it to work. Practice it and gain the results.
- Use Other People’s Money (OPM): Believe it or not, other wealthy people did this. Benjamin Franklin and Conrad Hilton to name a few did it. By doing the OPM you will operate your business on a more ethical standard. You will present the business with integrity, honor, honesty, loyalty, consent. Being doing business this way, you will become successful in your business.
This is just a partial list. Volumes can be written on the subject. But it gives you an idea as to what is needed to succeed. Knowing these things is one aspect of it. But putting them into practice is another part. When you do both, you’ll find you to can be successful in business, be it small or global.
