El Salvador is the smallest country found in Central America. It is bordered by Honduras, Guatemala, and the Pacific Ocean; most of the country is comprised of volcanic uplands. The tiny country of El Salvador experiences a hot, subtropical climate affected by its altitude. El Salvador enjoys very hot temperatures the entire year with temperatures averaging from 31-32°C.

The history of El Salvador is marked by the brutal civil wars that the country endured for years. Although the wars may be over, El Salvador has still experienced its share of trauma through natural disasters. Today it is estimated that 20% of Salvadorans presently live out of the country.
