El Salvador is an amazing country. There are so many different activities that can be enjoyed within the land. Below is a list of various activities El Salvador has to offer:

• Archaeological Sites: Visit one of the numerous archaeological sites that El Salvador has to offer. Sites worthy of note include the monumental Santa Letìcía sculptures close to the town of San Miguel; the pre-Columbian village of Quelepa, also found in San Miguel; and the pre-Columbian Tehuacán site located close to San Vicente.
• The Coast: 200 miles of the beautiful Pacific Coast borders the country of El Salvador, and the coastline is speckled with unblemished beaches, resort hotels, and fishing villages. Visitors can relax and enjoy one of the many beaches, which include el Sunzal, los Cobanos, el Tamarindo, and la Barra de Santiago. Or, spend the day at one of the best resorts the country has to offer, located along the Costa del Sol.
• Volcanoes: Visit one of the numerous volcanic sites in El Salvador. There are over 25 volcanoes in the country, and only three are still considered active: the Santa Ana (the largest), Izalco, and San Miguel. The last time the Santa Ana volcano erupted was in 1966. You can also explore the extinct San Salvador volcano, which is located close to the capital.
• Watersports: The eastern coast of El Salvador is notorious for having the best and most beautiful beaches, the finest of which include El Tamarindo and El Icacal. It is possible for visitors to enjoy boat expeditions on the Gulf of Fonseca, a great expanse of water shared by El Salvador, Nicaragua, and Honduras. These excursions allow guests to stop at landmarks such as the volcanic islands decorating the Gulf. In addition, you may spot sea turtles and dolphins along the black sand beaches of the gulf. Surfing is popular in El Salvador, with the biggest waves being found at Los Cóbanos and Punta Roca. Other awesome surfing beaches include La Libertad, El Sunzal, and positions west along La Costa del Bálsamo. In addition, those who enjoy whitewater rafting or canoeing can find some activity on some of El Salvador's rivers, particularly the Tórtola. Kayaking can also be enjoyed in the rough waters of Lempa and Paz Rivers. Boat racing and sailing are also available to those guests of private clubs.
• Hiking and Trekking: Those who enjoy being in the outdoors can enjoy hiking and trekking through the many parks, lakes, and volcanoes of El Salvador. El Salvador's volcanic landscape offers numerous occassions for trekking. Hike around the rim of San Salvador's Boquerón volcano or take a trail down into the crater itself. In addition, those interested in ecological tours to examine the wildlife and fauna in nature reserves and parks can also find excursions to join. Some hot spots for good hiking consist of the regions around La Palma and Perquín, Cerro Verde National Park, and Montecristo cloud forest.
