You are at that stage where you want to join the ranks of the online community. You’ve seen other websites and like what they have to offer. You know that the Internet is where it’s at. You also know that you can make a lot of money online. The problem is creating the website. Website design is not all peaches and cream. It doesn’t look as easy as you may think it is. There’s a lot involved. There’s a lot to know. You need a lot of creativity, ingenuity, a good eye for color coordination, and a good plan as to what you want on each page. Also, you need to ask yourself why you want to go online. People who get online want to do so because they want to do the following:
· To sell products or a service: The object of many web designers whether they are do-it-yourselfer’s or hire someone to do it, is to put up a web presence so they can sell a product(s) or service.
· Information: Many people who create web pages just do it for the sake of having a website up and being able to provide information they can use. It is like an information portal. They aren’t interested in selling anything. They just want to provide information.
· Network: Other reasons for having a website is to network with others. To have a place for friends and family to go so they can have an interchange of communication. This is important for them. This is the only reason they want a website established.
· Portfolio: Depending on if the person is self-employed or not, he may want to put up a website to showcase his work for others to see. It may be so he can get work, or just to show his stuff in order to get feedback.
· Competition: If the person is a businessman, he may want a website so he can stay ahead of his competition. By establishing a web presence, he can let his customers know about what he is offering and this in turn will allow his business to grow by way of his website. His business will increase and he will beat out his competition.
· Community development: The person putting up the website may simply want to bring many communities together so as to promote trust and goodwill among many people, places, or cultures.
