If you run a business online you know how vital using email is to reach your customers. As a matter of fact, email marketing is the most popular, cost-effective way to talk to your customers. And as a way of doing business, email can catapult your sales through the roof. It doesn’t matter whether you are a small business or a large one; email is more than likely your main source of communication. Now, depending on what you have on your website, or what products you sell, or even if you offer a newsletter, you no doubt collect email addresses from your customers in order to contact them in the future. This is known as email marketing. However, if so much spam going around and illegitimate emails being delivered to email boxes around the world, careful attention has to be placed on the way collecting email is done. This is where using opt-in email is used. If you are not familiar with opt-in email here are some facts you should know about it:

·        Opt-in requests: When someone responds to a request on your website to send email to receive something in return, they are telling you that they agree to receive what you have to offer in the future. With opt-in email, after the user enters his email and sends it, you receive an email letting you know he or she signed up for your product, service, or newsletter. This is opt-in email.
·        Benefits of using opt-in email: The biggest benefit with opt-in email is that the user wants to receive what you are offering. Therefore, it isn’t considered spam.
·        Viable marketing tool: Opt-in email is a viable way of email marketing. A survey done by Forrester recently suggests that spending on email marketing will be $6.8B in 2006. And opt-in email is a big part of it.
·        Use a third-party list service: Most business owners use a third-party list service to send out opt-in emails. This way they don’t have to take the time to deal with responses. Plus the list service does all the work for the owner.
