» What to Look for When Dealing With EDI
If you are interested in EDI for your business transactions, there are companies that do provide the software to assist you in your transmission requirements. However, each one different ways of dealing with EDI. You have to know what the standard way is so you will be able to discern what is right for your needs and purposes. Here are some things to look for in these EDI software providers and the software itself:
· Ease-of-use: The basic question many business people ask and are concerned with the most is how easy the software is to use. A legitimate EDI software provider will explain the software and how it is used. This way you will have no doubts about using it.
· Reliability: How reliable is the software and the company that provides it? Will the software be able to handle heavy loads of activity? Will the software provider promise support for it if something goes wrong? If the EDI software supplier is handling the communication process, will they be able to take care of any type of communication any part of the day?
· Accuracy: One important aspect to uploading data no matter what it is concerns the finished upload. Will the complete document get uploaded with no problems? Will there be any missing pieces? Will the document reach its intended destination in one piece and in the right format?
· Speed: How fast is the transmission? Is it slow, medium, or fast? In today’s society, businesses can’t afford to work with slow machines and slow response rates. They need the file or document uploaded now so they can take care of other business. Many of them have deadlines to make. Fooling around with software or a document that should have been delivered hours ago is not exactly what they want to spend their time on. So it is imperative that the transmission go fast as possible.
The basic thought here is that either the EDI software has to handle the task provided to it, or the provider, if he is taking care of it, needs to do this. There has to be adaptability, the services must always improve, there must be a continued learning process, and there must be integrity on the part of the supplier or else you will suffer.
