Other than what was presented above, advertisers, and marketers for that matters, may use different ways to get the ads to the consumer. As long as the advertiser sends a message to the user that the user is looking for, a sale is possible. Because of this contextual advertising is used extensively. Here are some ways it is used:
· Website: One way is by displaying only relevant ads on the website the user is visiting. This way when the user visits the site, the advertiser knows what he is looking for and displays only the ads that will entice the user to click on it.
· Blogs: Some advertisers use blogs as a way to get contextual ads to the user’s eyes. The user clicks on a link to a blog and finds ads appearing at the top, side, or bottom of the page. These ads are written with the theme of the blog in mind. This way the user will be enticed to click on the ad.
· Search engines: Search engines like Google do this all the time. You go to Google, type a keyword in the search bar, and a page of results appears. At the top and side of this page the user will see ads. Some ads will have the words “sponsored links” that appear before it. Another way that Google uses conceptual advertising is by using AdSense. This system displays as on particular web pages that sign up to use the service. The ads only show what is relevant to the web page itself.
· Inline contextual ads: This also called in-text contextual advertising. It is a type of advertising that companies offer. The ads appear within the actual content and not separate.
· Pop-Ups: Pop-ups or pop-under ads are used consistently by many advertisers and marketers. Statistics show that this method actually brings in great results for the advertiser that uses it.
