Some are predicting that the fall of banner ads is near. A very small percentage of internet users actually click on banner ads, resulting in lost money for the sites and advertisers. One argument that banner ads are here to stay is that internet trendsetter Google.com relies so heavily on AdSense. Google has also added AdWords, where there are actually pictures involved as well. The fact that Google is being forced out of their old ways of text-only advertising shows that is may be a necessary part of internet advertising.
For those worried about identity theft and data mining, there are anti-spyware programs both for purchase and for free on-line. You can also turn off cookies in your browser so ad statistics aren’t registered.
