Getting started is not hard to do. All you have to do is promote someone else’s products. You need to decide what product or service you want to promote. Not all products are valuable to the public. In other words, not all products are what the public wants. So you need to do research to make sure the product you are interested in is worthy of your time. Here are some things to look for:
· Product identification: If you want to sell someone’s product, you better know if it is a popular brand. How many of sells has the owner received so far? Is he selling a lot or very little? Is he really promoting his product? Is it well-received? Is the product talked about in various circles online? How many affiliates does this guy have signed up to promote his product?
· Terms of sale: What are the terms the owner has set for you? Does he pay a good commission or referral fee for any leads you send him? If so, how are the terms? Is it over 50% of the retail price or the wholesale price? How much is the product you are promoting? Is it worth the money? Another way to look at it is if the price of the product is too low, any commissions you get will also be too low. For example, if he has a product that sells for $10.95, and he promises a commission of 10% of the sell price. This means you will only get about $1.10. That’s really low.
· Advertising you need to do: What kind of advertising do you have to do to get visitors to his site? Will he supply the advertising? If so, what type? Will it be banner ads, text ads, or letters? Will the ads work well with your site? Or will it clash? Will you have to update your site to accommodate what he has to give you?
· How will he control sales: What method will he use to keep track of sales from the visitors you send him? Does he use a program that monitors the code he uses for the ads?
