Having your own business brings much in prosperity and financial freedom. Extending that to the Internet gives even more exposure and expandability, because you can reach people globally instead of locally. However, what if the stuff you sell offline can’t sell online? Or what if you are new to the online world and don’t have an offline business? These are tough questions to answer. However, there is a way around this. If you have a web site and want to sell something online why not do what others do at first. Sell other peoples stuff. To do this you need to expose others stuff to your visitors so they will go to that person’s website to buy. This is called affiliate marketing. It sounds harder than it really is. But before you venture into it, you need to understand the concept of affiliate marketing and why it is good for business. First thing to do is answer this question – what is affiliate marketing exactly? Consider these points:

·        Affiliate marketing: This is basically when you allow others to promote what you have in exchange you pay them a certain fee called a referral fee. The person who does the promoting for you is also known as an affiliate.
·        Advertising: Your affiliate sends visitors to your site by using banners, text links, letters, or other means of communication. When these visitors come to your site, you track them using special software. If and when the visitor buys your product, you send a payment to your affiliate.
·        Products to sell: As for what products can be sold online? Practically anything. However, the biggest sellers are info products. If you can create an info product that people want, your affiliate can promote it for you.
·        Money to be made: There have been reports of some people online who make up to two million a year just by having affiliates promote their products. So there is money to be made using affiliate marketing.
·        Easy or hard to set up: Signing up someone to be an affiliate is easy, especially when you can convince him or her that you have a winner of a product. The affiliate has nothing to lose considering that person does not put out any money to begin. All he or she does is place banner ads, text ads, or other types of communication that is given a code by you so you can track the sells when someone clicks on it.
·        Up front cost: What’s good about affiliate marketing is there are no start up or up front costs. You only pay the affiliate when the person he sends to your site buys your product. So the affiliate can have a million visitors a day, but you only pay him when a visitor clicks on a link you provided him, and comes to your site, and buys.
