» Should I talk to my doctor about my snoring?
Some snoring is not dangerous; it can simply be irritating to the person trying to sleep and his or her sleep partner. For these cases, you may not need a doctor’s help. Exercise and other do-it-yourself tips will be the biggest help to you. However, there are other cases in which your snoring is a symptom of sleep apnea which is very dangerous. If you are experiencing any of these problems, call your doctor and talk to him or her about your snoring:
· If you wake up at night from your snoring very confused.
· If you are excessively tired during the day and unable to function as well as usual.
· If you have recently gained weight for no other explainable reason.
· If you have chronic morning headaches.
· If you experience major changes in the level of your attention, your ability to concentrate, or your memory.
· If your partner tells you that they have witnessed you stop breathing while snoring.
· If the person with the chronic snoring is a child and is having growth problems, a lowered performance level in school, high blood pressure, bedwetting problems, learning difficulties, etc.
