The symptoms of depression aren’t black and white. Meaning some people who will suffer from depression will have several symptoms while others may only have one or two. Symptoms of depression do not only hurt us emotionally. They also cause physical harm as well. Some symptoms of depression can also be mistaken for other ailments. The following is a listing of symptoms of depression:
 
·        Loss of Interest: The loss of interest in things once loved and enjoyed is a very common symptom of depression.
·        Lingering Feelings: Constant feelings of despair, sadness, or even anger are considered symptoms of depression.
·        Decrease in Energy: Being tired all the time despite the amount of sleep you get or the activities you engage in are other symptoms of depression. Sometimes this symptom can be misdiagnosed as another medical condition such as a thyroid condition.
·        Sleeping Pattern Change: For some people it’s not being able to get to sleep while for others it’s sleeping more than usual. Both are signals that depression has begun.
·        Extreme Feelings: If someone is having strong feelings of guilt, worthlessness, or hopelessness depression is mostly likely the cause.
·        Appetite Change: Appetite changes that result in either weight loss or gain can be a product of depression. Appetite changes can also be attributed to other medical conditions and are often times thought to be caused from something other than depression.
·        Dangerous Thoughts: Thoughts of suicide or hurting oneself or someone else are the most dangerous symptoms of depression.
