The most common method of transporting an ATV is either in the back of a pickup truck or in a trailer. While it is convenient to simply load an ATV into the back of a pickup truck a standard size pickup bed can only transport one ATV. If you desire to transport multiple ATVs you will need the assistance of a trailer.

The most inexpensive and efficient trailer is the flat bed trailer. This open trailer makes it easy to load and unload several ATVs depending upon the size of the trailer and ATVs to be hauled. Enclosed utility trailers have the advantage of protecting the ATV from the elements, but are more expensive and more restrictive on the number of ATVs that can be hauled given its comparative size to an open flat bed trailer. The most expensive trailer is the “Toy Hauler” which is an enclosed trailer that when emptied is used for living quarters with amenities such as showers, sinks, kitchen tables, bedding, exedra.

Before purchasing a trailer you will want to be sure to consider what other uses you may have such a piece of equipment and what dimensions you need to fulfill those uses. Also be sure to check that the vehicle you own and will use for pulling the trailer is rated to haul the size and weight of the trailer.
