Goggles are the number one attachment for motocross helmets. This eye protection goes over the helmet and protects your eyes from flying debris. It is not necessary to remove the goggles from the helmet when taking the helmet off. Most of the time your goggles will remain a permanent fixture attached to your motocross helmet.
Neck protectors are also an additional safety device, that when used with a helmet will increase your level of personal protection. These neck protection devices will decrease the amount of distance your neck is able to travel in an accident, thereby reducing the risk of serious spinal injury. They work by being a cushion between the back of your helmet and your chest protector. Besides aiding in your protection during a crash, neck protectors will help decrease your soreness after each ride. By reducing the amount of travel your head and neck take over each bump, you will feel less muscle pain after your ride.
Decorative devices such a Mohawks and stickers can be added to your helmet to provide a sense of personality. These aftermarket parts can be purchased on-line or at your local motocross dealer. It is also a good idea to customize your helmet so other riders do not confuse it as theirs. It is always a good idea to make a permanent marking so you can identify your helmet if stolen.
