Protection from Debris: Your eyes are a very delicate part of your body. They are especially important when you are traveling difficult terrain at high rates of speed. A lose of vision, even if only lasting a second could cause an unfortunate accident. Motocross goggles provide protection from this hazard. This safety device is composed of flexible, transparent plastic. The plastic used to make motocross goggles is impact resistant so that when rocks and other flying debris impact the goggles they will not break or shatter. Rather than debris impacting your eyes, it simply bounces off of your goggles.
The dust that is kicked up into the air is also kept from your eyes by using motocross goggles. Although dust might not be a huge hazard, it is an irritant that is gladly avoided by all motocross riders.

Protection from Sun: Although the majority of motocross goggles are made of clear plastic, you also have the option of purchasing goggles that are tinted. This tint is aimed at blocking the glaring sunlight from your eyes. On very bright days it can be difficult to see without some type of tinting. It should be noted however that if you purchase a pair of tinted goggles, you will also need to purchase a pair of non-tinted goggles. This is because you will not always be able to wear your tinted goggles safely. You may desire to ride before the sun if fully up, after the sun has set or just on a cloudy day. Wearing tinted motocross goggles in these situations could be dangerous because you may not be able to see the terrain well enough to operate safely.
