Questions to ask a seller

Asking questions is the most important part of purchasing a dirt bike and the answers will help establish if this is right one for you, however, what questions should you ask to ensure all information is given.

• How many owners? It is very important to ask this because it can reduce the idea on any ongoing maintenance issues with the bike that may potentially cause problems
• Fully service history? Another vital element, it is always recommended that you purchase the bike with a full service history. If there is only one owner then this is not a problem but any more with these details and you could be asking for trouble
• Has the bike been modified? If it has, don’t purchase it. Normally modifications are a homemade job and many have been killed as a result of such changes. It also effects insurance, some may not insure you as a result and those that do will bump up prices drastically

Top Tip: Always ask for a test ride. If a seller refuses for any reason then don’t purchase it. Only if there are underlying problems would a person refuse such a request
