After you complete your recording, you will download everything to your PC. After this is accomplished you will want to edit your digital video and audio information so it can be viewable for others to see. But you are unsure about how to do this. What editor do you use? Here are some things that video editors do so you’ll have an idea of which one you will need:

• Cut and paste: This is an obvious one. Every DV camera editing software will allow you to do this. It is a given.
• Separate audio tracks: Some editing software won’t do this. Make sure the software you have will allow for it.
• Create titles: Again, not every editing software will allow you to create titles for your video. So look for this feature.
• Use filters: In some situations you may want to filter out certain error in capturing the video. Filters allow this to happen.
• Video overlay: This allows you to superimpose one image on another.

Most DV cameras come with their own editing software. This may be good or bad, depending on what type of editing software it is. Make sure it has all the features you need for your purposes. If it doesn’t go out and get one.
