It has a maximum range it can go. The deciding factor as to how the flash will work is determined by its power and how far the light can travel away from the camera. The best way around this is to buy an external flash. This way you can get more bang for the buck and take better pictures you’ll be proud of. If you can’t afford an external flash, you can take better pictures with your automatic flash. Just make sure your subjects are closer to your camera. Or you just need to move closer to the object.
