Digital cameras are not just taking any type of picture, like your friend, or some object on the street. Digital cameras are now used to photograph objects to be put on online galleries, to use for portfolios, to sell at auctions, to be placed on e-commerce sites, to be listed in catalogs, and other reasons. In order to take such shots, you will need to set up a small studio. One note here is that you don’t need to purchase or rent an expensive loft, or another studio. Save money and extra expenses by simply using the place you already have, unless it is too small. If that is the case, you may want to move out of that small space and into a larger space, just as long as it doesn’t break your back account.

When you are ready to gather what you need to make your photography studio, you may come to find out that most of the stuff you will need, you could actually get from Home Depot. They have many sections on the wood you may want to make the table. If you go to the electrical section, you may find lamps that may work as lighting for your studio. If after a much thorough search, you find that Home Depot does not have what you are looking for, take a look at office supply stores such as Office Depot or Staples. They may not have the wood as Home Depot may, but you may not need to build your desk, especially if you can find a good deal in a ready-made desk. Office Depot and Staples carries many types of desks and lamps that may fit well in your place.

Here are the materials and supplies you will need to gather for your photography studio:

• Desk: The type of desk you will need, if decide to buy one instead of making one from scratch, is to buy the desk large enough to place poster on it. The desk does not have to be huge. Just as long as you have the room for the lamp and backdrop you will use.
• Lamps: The lamp you will need would an adjustable one that you can move around and position in any angle you need. You could probably get one for around $10.
• Gray poster board: You need a gray poster board as the backdrop for your images. Gray boards look the best in photos, but don’t be afraid to look fro other colors if you see something you like.
• Stretcher bars: It would be a good idea to purchase stretcher bars since they seem to diffuse the light and make it softer, as it shows behind the objects you will shoot. Also purchase a sheet of vellum. You will need this later.
