CCD (charged-coupled device) chips are what provide the picture in the camera. The more CCDs in a camera the better the image quality. In many cameras, there are CCDs that are red, blue, and green. Having various color CCDs gives the image a richer look. Don’t forget to check the size and capacity of the CCD. A large CCD will provide a better resolution, which in turn will give you better image quality. The pixel count for digital video cameras is usually lower than the still versions – around one Megapixel.

The one important thing about digital video cameras is seeing the object you want to shoot. This is done by an LCD on the digital camera, but on the digital video camera this is often accomplished by means of a viewfinder. Some viewfinders fold out from the side, while others you just peer into. It would be best to choose the one that you can just peer into this way you won’t have to take your eyes off the viewfinder just to you’re your shot. Plus, the viewfinder should be in color so any user who has eye trouble can easily view it.
