The famous story of the Little Mermaid that was written by Danish writer Hans Christian Andersen in 1913, has a statue (in respect of this great story) located in the centre of Copenhagen.

Many people visit this piece of historical interest year after year and even though you cannot get right up close, it is one place you would like to photograph for the album of a great holiday.

Top Fact: It used to be the case where people were allowed to stand directly next to the statue but due to problems with vandalism and general graffiti, the government has restricted the distance where people can stand because it has been replaced and what was and still is known as a national landmark, it still manages to get destroyed by ungrateful residents that have no respect for a great historical figure but all is not ruined, you can have your picture taken with the famous statue just remember not to touch it because it has since become a sensitive subject.
