Thousand of islands dot the Southern Pacific Ocean. There are many different cruise options that are offered that tour some of these exotic yet still somewhat secluded islands. There is still an element of purity in the people of the Southern Pacific islands. Distinct ecosystems are found in each and every island and are respected and preserved by the natives. There is so much to see and do on any island that is visited in the South Pacific. Whale watching is a popular activity. The humpback whale, one of the most recognizable types of whales, frequents the coasts of these islands and is relatively easy to spot. Whale watching can be a highlight for some tourists. Diving and snorkeling are other activities that are also very popular throughout all the islands. Coral reefs are numerous among the islands and are breathtakingly beautiful with a wide variety of fish, coral, and other sea creatures that cannot be seen anywhere else in the world. The cultures of the different island inhabitants vary from island to island and nation to nation. These cultures depend on traditional values and cultural influences from nations that dominated these islands in the past. The natives and inhabitants are very welcoming and friendly towards tourists though, no matter what the cultural background.
