The following is a suggested timetable of items you should keep in mind while preparing for your cruise:

• Three months before departure:
o Check with your travel agent or the State Department as to the identification needed. If you need to replace a birth certificate or passport you will need to start the paperwork immediately.
o If visas are required for your cruise, get paperwork completed now.
• Two months before departure:
o Check the due dates on your cruise fare. Failing to pay the balance owed on time can result in the cancellation of your reservation.
o Begin your wardrobe planning to be sure the items you wish to take are in good shape and fit.
• 30 days before departure:
o Call your travel agent for details of airline schedules. Request seat assignments and any other special arrangements needed.
o Check that your luggage is in good condition.
• Two to four weeks before departure:
o Pick up cruise documents from the travel agent. Examine them for accuracy and fill them out completely.
• One week before departure:
o Finalize your packing list and organize clothing.
o Refill medications to take with you.
o Make two copies of all identifications.
o Get cash and travelers checks from your bank.
o Stop mail and newspaper delivery.
• Three days before departure:
o Confirm flights and departure times.
o Begin packing.
• Departure day:
o Prepare your home for the time you will be gone. Adjust the thermostat, water plants, set timers for lights, etc.
o Arrange to be at the airport at least two hours before your flight departs. Have photo ID ready for check-in.
o Take along some dollar bills for the luggage handlers at the pier. They do not work for the cruise lines.
