If you have only one day to spend in Denver and want to maximize your site-seeing potential, perhaps the best way to do this is to join a guided tour of the city. Tours vary from half-day excursions to full-day and can be pre-set journeys or customized to your preferences. Here are some guided tour options:
• Historic tour including stops at the State Capitol and Molly Brown’s house
• 7.5 hour tour through Mt. Evans Wilderness Area and Phoenix Mine
• Mountain bike tours
• Walking tours of Lower Downtown (LoDo) Denver
Other tour options: Driving tours—Do some research on tours in Denver and you will find some creative compilations of places you can see in one day. These range from:
• One day tour of Denver’s literary landmarks
• Beat poetry driving tour
• Civic center walking tour
• Fairmount cemetery walking tour
If you don’t feel like you have to see it all in the one day you have, then you have many choices for how to fill your time in Denver.
Options with children—
• Check out the Denver Zoo during the day, and catch a Broncos or Rockies game, depending upon the season, at night.
• Enjoy Six Flags Elitch Gardens during the day and see if there is a family friendly show playing at the Performing Arts Complex in the evening.
• If you are ambitious you might consider touring the State Capitol, the United States Mint, and Colorado Ocean Journey all in one day.
Options without children—
• Tour the Denver Art Museum during the morning, the Coors Brewery in the afternoon, and catch a Broncos or Rockies game, depending upon the season, at night.
• Byers-Evans House/Denver History Museum followed by the Denver Past and Present Walking Tour, capped off with good food in the Lower Downtown District and one of the popular jazz and blues bars.
