Be honest, sincere, and clear. This style and organization will go far in getting your essay to the top of the list. However, in addition to these things, there are also some others you can do:
• Don’t just show your statistics (ie. GPA). Also show them the rest of you – any special awards you’ve received, community services that you’ve participated in, and unique goals you have for life.
• Keep the essay short. One typed page is the perfect length.
• Check it for correct sentence structure, punctuation, spelling, and clarity. Then check it again. Then have someone else check it. Careless errors can hurt you more than you realize.
• Turn it in either on time or early. It doesn’t matter how great it is if it’s late; you’ll look like a slacker.
