The first step is usually to take a test of some sort that will help you determine the learning style you rely on the most. You can either take a personality test, such as the Meyers-Briggs test, or you can take a test that is focused just on learning styles. These are available online (There are many that you can take for free.), on CD-ROM’s, and often at schools.
After you have taken the test and learned to evaluate what learning preferences you have, start to notice how that plays out in your life and how you identify the same sort of preferences in others. After a while, not only will you learn to recognize your own learning style needs speaking up, you will also be able to tell from the personalities of others what their learning styles are.
