If you’re looking for a book club, the local library is a great place to find one that suits your needs. Some clubs meet weekly while others meet monthly and there are even book clubs for teens. One Harris County, Texas library offers a teen book club designed for home schooled kids who are interested in reading the classics. Other clubs feature contemporary fiction, history, time travel, mysteries, romance novels, poetry, and even cooking. There’s no limit to the topics that can be offered by a book club.

To find out if your local library offers book clubs that interest you, go online or call to ask about local book clubs. If you’re a teen, make sure you ask about clubs just for teens. They may be listed in a different section than the book clubs designed for adults. If you’re a college student or recent alumni, ask about book clubs for other students or grads.

If you find that your local library doesn’t offer book clubs, ask about starting one in a genre that interests you. Chances are that if one particular style of book is fascinating to you, it will be to others as well. If the library is hesitant to start a club based solely on your interest, consider recruiting a few friends who are also interested to call the library and let them know they are interested in the book club you would like to start.

Most libraries would love to create a forum for people come and enjoy using the library on a regular basis.
