Coin Counters

Some coin counters are the step up from coin sorters. Coin sorters simply divide your coins according to their types, but coin counters sort your coins and count them as well, totaling up how much money you have.

On the other hand, some basic coin counters can only count pre-sorted coins. In other words, it cannot tell the difference between different types of coins. These coin counters often “count” coins by measuring the weight of the coins.

In purchasing a coin counter, you will need to decide between manual and electric models. Manual counters are powered by a hand crank while electric counters run on battery or electric power. Electric counters will sort and count coins faster than will coin sorters, but they are also more expensive. Some electric counters can sort well over two thousand coins per minute, however, so if you have a high volume of coins, it might be worth the money.

Coin counters are especially useful for banks and businesses, but most coin collectors are more interested in displaying their coins than they are in counting them.
