Tea Packaging

Tea can be purchased in two common forms, loose leaves, or in tea bags.

• Teas bags: Tea bags are the most convenient form of packaging. The tealeaves are contained in small paper bags that make brewing a cup or pot of tea quick, easy, and mess free. Some though feel that tea bags mean that the leaves inside have a decreased quality in taste. That is left up to personal opinion, but it is true that the flavor is lessened when exposed to the air. Others seem to believe that the bag itself affects the taste. Despite this, most of Americans buy their tea in the tea bag form.
• Loose leaf tea: In this form, the tealeaves are left loose in a container or other type of packaging. Many high quality loose-leaf teas come vacuum-sealed. Although the consumer will have to physically measure out the amount of tea needed, it gives more flexibility by letting them choose how strong they would like the tea to be. There is one major complaint from those that use this form to brew their tea, those bothersome leaf bits floating around! Strainers, tea pressers, and tea balls are just few products out on the market that help eliminate this problem.
