Special features that come on espresso makers make the espresso making experience more enjoyable. They also provide you the chance to make café quality espresso, cappuccino, or latte in your own home. By adding on features to an espresso machine you can also raise the price. But that is well worth it for many espresso lovers. Listed below are a few of the features some espresso machines come with:
· Froth Attachment: This feature is a nozzle that produces steam to foam milk added to espresso or cappuccinos.
· Strength Selector: This feature comes standard on most super automatic espresso machines but can also be found on other styles. It allows you to make your coffee drink of choice stronger or weaker. It can be used when making espresso, doubles, or Crema.
· Heating Plate: This feature comes standard on several models. It is a built in warming device that keeps the espresso, cappuccino, or latte warm once the brewing process is complete.
· Bypass Doser: This feature is typically only found on super automatics. It allows you to use pre-ground coffee grounds instead of using the coffee grounder that is built in. This is an excellent option for those who drink decaf.
· Empty Feature: Again usually found on super automatic models this feature is a true time saver. This feature provides an internal dump box into which used coffee grounds are automatically placed. The machine will tell you when the box is full and needs to be emptied. Some models will also tell you when the water level is low and needs to be replenished.
· Cleaning Feature: Some espresso machines offer self cleaning models. These machines have internal auto rinse cycles and decalcification cycles.
Pre-Moistening Cycle: This feature allows the coffee grounds to be moistened before the shot is pulled.
