Coffee: a beverage or something more? Coffee is one of our culture’s most established beverages. Over 400 billion cups of coffee are consumed every year! There are some who assert that, aside from water, it is the most universally consumed liquid. This is a strong assertion when you consider such popular drinks as tea, wine, juice, and even soda.

Coffee, however, stands in a unique class of it’s own. It has taken the plunge from being simply known as a liquid to almost becoming what some might label a “trend”. It is one of our culture’s most favorite past times. A beverage that is not simply a drink but is a catalyst for social gathering.

It is not simply the taste of coffee that most people enjoy. The unique aroma of coffee arouses the senses so that coffee becomes more than just a liquid; it invokes comfort, stirs up memories, and perks our spirits. The caffeine also adds spring to our step and we soon become dependent on that little lift to help us make it through the day.
