Despite their revealing name, coffee mugs can do a lot more than holding coffee. I am sure, like most Americans, you have at some point been given a coffee mug for a special event or occasion. I have been given a coffee mug for my college graduation, for being in a wedding party, and for being an Alice In Wonderland fanatic. Some of these mugs just sit in a cupboard somewhere, while others have found uses not related to coffee. Like so many of you, I have different mugs for different kinds of change. I have a homemade mug that houses all my silver coins (nickel, dime, quarter, etc…) and I have a mug that someone gave me at a wedding for loose pennies. I used to have a mug that collected rubber bands. There are certain mugs I have simply for the keepsake value. These types of mugs do not get used for coffee or pennies; they just sit on a shelf somewhere and remind me of a season of life or an event that I would like to remember. Perhaps my most significant mug is the Alice In Wonderland mug I use everyday for my morning brew. There is just something about the color and memory associated with it that forces me to use it every morning. There is another mug I have I drink out often as well and it has a few of my closest friends on it. It is like drinking from a memory pool every time I use it.
