Interesting local story about a self-roaster.

Coffee roaster Art Nunes Jr., 44, dumps 30 pounds of raw coffee beans into a hopper, punches buttons on a computerized control panel, then the roasting machine drum begins to turn.

Watching the green beans tumble through the drum's tiny round window is like watching clothes drying at a laundry mat, but this process is much hotter and faster.

It's an interesting and fairly detailed description of what it takes to process and brew coffee in a fairly small environment. It's no wonder that coffee is one of the largest import/export industries in the world, not merely because of the popularity of the drink, but also because of the multi-faceted production process.
