The American organic products manufacturer New Chapter is set to introduce its new product - CoffeeBerry 2500, a whole coffee fruit concentrate, to the North American market under an exclusive license.
New Chapter claims the whole fruit of the coffee bush, including the bean, is rich in tropical anti-oxidants and rare essential sugars. It is also said to be replete with plant phenolics that nourish the seed. And I guess that means it should taste OK.
The company insists that until now only the bitter bean seed has been commercially utilized and now claims that a freshly developed technology should make ripe coffee fruit available for the first time. The drink is purported to serve as both a refreshment and nutritional supplement.
I'm skeptical, though I probably have no logical basis to be. I just can't imagine the taste of coffee combined with the taste of V8 or some "organic fruit drink." Maybe I'm not pretentious enough.
