Final Thoughts

Whether you are traveling across glaciers in Alaska, climbing the infamous Mt. Everest, or climbing in the Adirondacks, there are very few activities that provide participants with the view of such immense natural beauty and yet also require profound physical demands. There is nothing like being on top of a summit and looking out over the view.

Mountaineering is a demanding sport that requires both training and skills. It is very important for a climber to know ahead of time what he or she is getting into. There are also various mountaineering programs where climbers can enroll in order to learn basic skills.

Safety is extremely important when it comes to mountaineering. The weather, altitude sickness, falling from great heights, and rock and snow falling on a climber must all be taken into account on every trip. Although mountaineering tends to be fairly expensive, the enjoyment and experience of being out in nature and stretching your body to its limit is a well-spent investment.
