Start off the day at the Forbidden City. This complex has 70 structures and more than 9,000 rooms. It was once the residence of the Ming and Qing Dynasties and is surrounded by a high wall and a moat. In the early 20th century, it was tuned into a museum and now houses a collection of over 900,000 fine treasures. There is a royal garden located behind the palace. Admission is CNY30 for a regular ticket and CNY50 for an all-inclusive ticket.

Next, head to the Lama Temple (Yonghegong). This temple was built in 1694 and was the residence of Prince Yin Zhen, son of Emperor Kang Xi of the Qing Dynasty. The temple contains five large halls and five courtyards. The courtyards are architecturally beautiful and feature archways, upturned eaves, and carved details.
