Beijing is a fascinating city. Even seasoned travelers are awed by the otherworldly architecture, so unfamiliar to Westerners. The big-city vibe may be familiar, with its construction cranes and ever-present smog, but the ancient roots Beijing was built upon are a mystery to most Americans. Viewing the primary tourist sites help to uncover some of the city’s intriguing past, and wandering the shopping streets and dining at the numerous cafes enable you to get a glimpse into Beijing’s present.
