The Essex Inn: There aren't many motels this close to Chicago's city center, and the Essex Inn is a fairly nice one. The price is right (relatively) at $99-149, and it is located at the north end of the South Side, across Michigan Avenue from the Park.

Hyatt on Printer’s Row: For $155-240, the Hyatt offers comfortable rooms in the renovated Printer's Row area.

Chicago Hilton and Towers: This grand, 1927-vintage hotel on Michigan Avenue is the closest south of the Loop, and is still well-located for museums, parks, and other sights in the heart of the city. It was the largest hotel in the world when it was built. Rooms cost between $184 and $279.
