Popular restaurants, shops and other attractions will surround you, no matter which hotel you select in this area. And the Red, Brown, and Purple Lines provide easy access to sights farther south, like the Sears Tower.
Red Roof Inn: If you're not looking for many extras, there are several options in the $80-120 range in the Near North. The Red Roof Inn is likely to be sparse but clean, and is just a block from the shops on North Michigan Avenue. It is about six blocks from the nearest El station. The Howard Johnson Inn, the Cass Hotel, and the Ohio House Motel are also worth looking into.
Best Western Inn of Chicago: One of the best values in the near North side, this Best Western, like the Red roof Inn, is about a block from North Michigan Avenue. Rooms are comfortable and cost $89-169. The other nearby Best Western, Chicago River North, is similar and slightly more expensive. Radisson Hotel and Suites also offers nice rooms in this area for a similar price range, although some rooms there can also range into the low $300s.
Lenox Suites: Although room sizes vary somewhat unpredictably, the Lenox Suites are well-located and cost $119-239 a night.
The Peninsula: For over-the-top pampering in the Near North, the Peninsula is your best bet. Zagat Surveys voted it the best place to stay in Chicago. Rooms are large and comfortable, with lavish bathrooms, and there is an indoor pool on the glass-enclosed top floor/roof. Rooms cost $395-475.
