The Museum of Contemporary Art, located on Chicago Avenue just east of Michigan Avenue, features art created after 1945. The David and Alfred Smart Museum of Art, located on the University of Chicago's Hyde Park campus, houses a permanent collection of over 7,000 objects, spanning five centuries of both Western and Eastern civilizations.
