With their calm waters and cool breezes, The Bahamas are popular for sailing and regattas and races are held year-round. The islands are the birthplace of the Gulf Stream, which has also caused a huge variety and quantity of marine life to be present throughout the islands’ waters. Because of this, over 50 international fishing records have been set in The Bahamas.
The Bahamas are also known for their underwater parks. They contain over 5% of the earth’s reef mass, making them irresistible to divers and snorkelers. The beaches of the Bahamas are stunning, including the rose-colored sands of Harbour Island and Eleuthera and the deserted beaches of the Exumas and San Salvador. The islands also boast gardens and National Parks that are home to some endangered species.
