Aruba is located 15 miles off the coast of Venezuela in the southern Caribbean. The island area is approximately 70 square miles, being 19.6 miles long and 6 miles across at its widest point. Aruba’s population is about 100,000 and represents at least 40 different nationalities. Arubans are friendly, peaceful folks who are very welcoming and hospitable. Because of this, Aruba is one of the most-returned-to places in the Caribbean.

No matter what type of vacation you are seeking, you will find it in Aruba. There are secluded beaches and beautiful countrysides for those wanting privacy; there are active casinos and energetic nightlife for those desiring a party atmosphere; and there are parks, gardens, and bird sanctuaries for the nature enthusiasts. For sports-types, there is golf, windsurfing, and scuba diving, among countless other ventures. Many places provide activities especially for families with children, singles, and honeymooners.

Along the southwestern coastline of Aruba are many amazing diving opportunities. There are also several experienced dive operators on the island. Ecological groups are working hard to preserve Aruba’s amazing reefs and have begun many preservation programs. There is a new protected underwater park and even a reef-clean up program in which divers can participate. Aruba boasts at least six wrecks, a number of sunken airplanes, and a minimum of fifteen reefs to satisfy divers of all levels.

If you don’t like diving, you can still explore the bottom of the ocean by taking a submarine ride! Aruba’s most outstanding attraction is the Atlantis Submarine. This 48-passenger underwater adventure allows visitors to witness the remains of two shipwrecks and several coral reefs, along with spectacular and colorful sea life! And best of all, you can do this without getting wet; in fact, you’ll experience all this while relaxing in a comfortable, air-conditioned atmosphere! The underwater tour lasts for an hour and a half.

Aruba also has a semi-submarine called the SeaWorld Explorer, which is an underwater observatory that remains partially above sea-level at all times. From this observatory, you can view the Arashi Coral reef and “The Antilla,” which is a famous World War II German shipwreck. You can also enjoy the Rhino Rider Water Safari, an inflatable motorboat that takes riders on an action-packed adventure with a diving opportunity halfway through.

With activities for everyone, restaurants boasting cuisine for every taste, and hotels for every budget, Aruba is an island you won’t want to miss!
