There are a myriad of tests available to gather information about workers, their personality, work, and learning styles. Using these tests to get an idea of how a person thinks and sees the world can be helpful in placing employees in a position for which they are well-suited. For employees already in place, personality and learning style tests can be used to find out how that employee is re-energized, feels successful, and what types of training will be most beneficial to them.

  • Multiple Intelligences tests indicate how a person bests processes and retains information.
  • IQ tests are helpful in knowing potential, but are not an accurate predictor of future achievement.
  • Emotional Maturity tests can help measure a person’s ability to cope in stressful or difficult situations. If the proposed work environment involves greater than normal amounts of stress, an Emotional Maturity test would be an appropriate method of determining the best candidate for the job.
  • VAK Test – Visual, Auditory, Kinesthetic Learning Style Tests

By utilizing these tests in a professional manner, employers can match new employees to a job where they are most likely to achieve success and to feel a greater sense of job satisfaction. By offering training sessions that make use of a variety of teaching methods, training can be more meaningful and productive than training offered in a single style.
